AION 2 Boss MechanicsWhat each boss does and what to do about it
We record our dungeon runs and write down what the bosses actually do. If you don't want to memorise it, the free A2Naki boss mod calls it out while you fight.

Boss mechanics in general
What most bosses throw at you
Most AION 2 dungeon bosses reuse the same handful of tricks. Once you know them, a new boss is a lot less scary.
Zones and orbs
Orbs, circles, waves or fire on the floor that pulse for a while. Get out and wait for them to go away.
Take cover
A hit that covers the room, with somewhere safe to stand, like behind a stone. The boss sets it up first, so you have time to get there.
Wipe checks
A gauge shows up on the boss. Break it with stagger skills before time runs out or the group dies. Don't waste your stagger skills right before one.
Stagger and interrupts
Control skills drain the stagger (groggy) gauge, and breaking it stops whatever he is casting. Interruptible casts are the ones worth stopping on purpose.
Reflect and counter stance
For a while, hitting the boss hurts you or heals him. Stop attacking. On Thamon only half the group has to stop, depending on the colour.
Adds
Flowers, flags, stones, a handmaiden. Most die in a few hits and hurt if you leave them up, so kill them first.
Marks and targets
The boss picks a player. Sometimes they run out, sometimes everyone stacks on them to share the hit. The boss guide says which.
Enrage timer
Take too long and the boss enrages. The kill projection in the app tells you if you're on track; if it says the kill comes after the enrage, burst.
The AION 2 boss mod
Let the app do the calls
A2Naki Companion reads the boss casts the game already sends to your PC and says the call out loud, like Take cover! or Dodge!. The same line shows on the boss card with a countdown. If the boss gives it away early with a cast, a debuff or an HP mark, you get the warning early too.
- Written per boss from our own pulls, Exploration and Conquest.
- Works on new bosses too: it picks up group hits, adds, cleanses and interrupts during the fight.
- Your settings: turn warnings on or off one by one and set the volume.

FAQ
Questions
What are the boss mechanics in AION 2?
Mostly the things listed above: stuff on the floor to get out of, big hits you hide from, wipe checks where you break the stagger gauge in time, reflect, adds, marked players and an enrage timer. Each dungeon guide has the details per boss.
Is there a boss mod for AION 2?
Yes, A2Naki Companion. It reads the boss casts the game already sends to your PC and says short warnings out loud. It never sends anything to the game. See the boss mod page, and read Is it safe? before you decide.
Where do these mechanics come from?
From recordings of our own runs on the Global servers. We look at which cast starts a mechanic, what it does and who it hits. If we're not sure about something yet, the page says so. The game doesn't show English names for most boss spells, so we name them ourselves. Names with a * are ours.
